Systems Specialist (at the rank of IT Technician) in the School of Computing and Data Science (Ref.: 530142)

The Technical Staff Office of the School of Computing and Data Science provides technical support services for administrative, teaching, and learning activities in the School. It is currently seeking a Systems Specialist to join the team. Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.

The Role 

The appointee will perform duties for the Technical Staff Office and assist in one or more of the following tasks:

  • Website setup and maintenance, including web content updates
  • System administration of computer servers
  • Administration of firewalls, routers, and network switches
  • Providing helpdesk support for both staff and students
  • Video conferencing support
  • Event logistics management

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred; candidates with other qualifications are also encouraged to apply
  • A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Self-initiative and a willingness to learn
  • Knowledge of Linux operating systems will be an advantage

What We Offer 

The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, along with contract-end gratuity and a University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
