Executive Officer in the School of Public Health (Ref no.: 530588), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.

The appointee will work in the infectious disease modelling group led by Professor Joseph Wu. He/She will support team members on a various range of projects to develop practical analytics and strategies for disease control and prevention, as well as AI technology and tools for global and personal health protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and secretarial support for research grant and award applications, contract research establishments and multi-institutional grant applications
  • Manage human capital, budget exercises, and other financial matters related to the research team and its projects
  • Plan and coordinate research and academic related events including seminars, conferences, forums and short courses, etc.
  • Supervise junior staff and work closely with research teams and administrative staff at all working levels
  • Perform any other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Qualities:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • A minimum of 3 years’ work experience in human resources, financial management, office or research administration. Administrative experience in multiple tertiary institutions and research institutes/centres is highly desirable
  • Practical experience in liaising with public and private research funding organisations, such as government departments and large-scale local and overseas philanthropic organisations
  • Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua)
  • Proficiency with MS Office, database management, and other productivity software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, meticulous, organized and reliable; enthusiastic to take up new projects and improvement works
  • Ability to work independently, and good coordination, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Mature with good interpersonal skills; a good team player; exhibit a strong sense of responsibility as well as a self-starter with a positive attitude

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
