Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.:531565), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The appointee will join an interdisciplinary research project titled Leveraging Social Innovations for Volunteer Engagement in Healthy Aging Initiatives. The proposed project aims to explore social innovations to effectively attract, motivate, and engage volunteers within non-profit organizations and social enterprises dedicated to advancing healthy aging initiatives. 

  • Conducting literature reviews and contributing to theoretical frameworks at the intersection of healthy aging, social media, and nonprofit management. 
  • Designing and executing mixed-method research (observational studies, focus groups, interviews, surveys) under the supervision of Principal Investigator (PI)
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis under the supervision of PI.
  • Collaborating with the funder, community partners to ensure translational impact. 
  • Preparing manuscripts for high-impact journals and presenting findings at international conferences under the supervision of PI. 
  • Assisting the PI in project management, ethics applications, and mentoring junior researchers. 

 

Requirements:

  • A PhD degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Nonprofit Management, Media Studies) or a related discipline. 
  • Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, with proven experience in conducting focus groups, interviews, and observational studies. 
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software (e.g., STATA) and qualitative tools (e.g., NVivo). 
  • Track record of scholarly output (publications in Q1/Q2 journals preferred). 
  • Experience working with aging populations or community-based projects is highly desirable. 
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Cantonese is an advantage for local fieldwork.
