Assistant Director of Estates (Facilities Management) (Ref.: 531628)
Estates Office is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as the Assistant Director for our Facilities Management Team.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Estates and Associate Director of Estates, the appointee will play a pivotal role in managing, maintaining, and enhancing the University's infrastructure and facilities to provide a safe, reliable and sustainable campus for teaching and learning. He/She will be responsible for the overall management of the Facilities Management Team and is expected to perform professionally to complete the tasks, including but not limited to:
- Support the Associate Director of Estates in developing policy, overseeing and maintaining the budget for the facilities management department, ensuring the financial efficiency and resources optimization in all operations;
- Lead a team of facilities management staff and external service provider to ensure the excellent quality of services provided to residents of senior staff quarters;
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance and improvement plans for senior staff quarters to ensure the good quality of accommodation is provided for the residents;
- Collaborate with the HR department to facilitate the allocation and management of senior staff quarters, addressing accommodation-related issues promptly and effectively;
- Manage both in-house staff and outsourced contractors to deliver quality campus facilities management services including building maintenance & works, cleaning, security, ground management, events support and transportation in a cost-effective manner;
- Liaise with stakeholders on campus maintenance, renovation and development projects to meet the current and future needs of the University; and
- Ensure rigorous compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications and Qualities
Applicants should possess:
- A University degree in Architecture, Real Estate, Surveying, Property Management / Housing Management or related disciplines or equivalent;
- A minimum of 20 years’ professional working experience in facilities management and tenancy administration and at least 10 years’ supervisory experience in property market, and a proven track record on major alteration / renovation works in the higher education / medical sector;
- Professional corporate membership of HKIA/ HKIE / HKIS or equivalent organization;
- Leadership skills and capacity to manage a diverse team of in-house staff and external contractors effectively;
- Comprehensive understanding of the best practices in facilities management, coupled with a robust knowledge of health and safety regulations;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Chinese, with experience in budget planning and financial control; and
- A high level of resilience, strong leadership, critical problem-solving skills and capability to work under pressure.

What We offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
