IT Officer in the Institute for Advanced Dentistry Multi-Specialty Clinic (IAD-MSC) of the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 534547)
As part of HKU’s Faculty of Dentistry, ranked among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for nine out of the past eleven years (2015-2025), IAD-MSC is a centre of excellence for the management of complex and severe oral conditions. The institute provides postgraduate dental education, fosters clinical innovation, and offers continuing dental and professional education for practicing dentists and specialists.
IAD-MSC is situated in Hong Kong Island at a 20,000 ft² state-of-the-art facility. Equipped with 45 dental chairs and paired with the latest technologies, students from eight different dental disciplines can receive education and training in advanced dentistry and interact with real patients.
Key Responsibilities
The appointee will report directly to the Director of IAD-MSC and be responsible for:
- Performing routine management and maintenance of on-site servers, networks, telephone systems, and internet infrastructures;
- Working on strategic IT projects to support the institute’s goals and initiatives;
- Providing basic technical support to key users;
- Coordinating effectively with internal teams and external parties, including vendors, to ensure seamless operations; and
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A recognised degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, preferably with 2 years of relevant experience; OR 5 passes in HKCEE, including English (min. grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007), Chinese (Level 2 from 2007) and Mathematics, or min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics or equivalent, with at least 10 years’ relevant work experience;
- Strong system administration skills in an on-site Windows server environment, including expertise in Active Directory, Windows Domain management, and SQL Server;
- Proficiency in firewall, router, and network management;
- Proven strength in coordinating and communicating effectively with internal stakeholders (e.g. HKU IT Services) and external parties (e.g. IT vendors and service providers);
- A proactive, troubleshooting, and self-learning mindset;
- A proficient command of both English and Chinese; and
- Ability in basic programming and expertise in API interfacing are strong advantages.

What We Offer
The appointment will be made on a fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
