IT Manager in the School of Computing and Data Science (Ref. :535001), (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal).

 

The Role

  • The appointee will lead the Technical Staff team supporting the Master Programmes Office of the School, ensuring the provision of technical support services for the administrative, teaching, and learning activities of the Master Programmes of the School. The role includes maintaining high availability and ensuring the smooth operation of in-house systems, network infrastructure, websites, and applications.
  • The appointee will also be responsible for planning, executing, delivering, and managing internal systems, software projects, and data management platforms to meet the evolving IT needs of the office.
  • Furthermore, the role requires collaborating effectively with various university IT stakeholders and ensuring compliance with network and data security, privacy, and institutional policies.
  • Other duties include IT budget planning, developing procurement strategies, and managing tendering processes (e.g., evaluation criteria, vendor selection, timeline, and documentation).

 

Qualifications and Qualities

  • Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience is required, with at least 3 years in a leadership role overseeing IT infrastructure, computing systems, data management platforms, software development projects, and websites. Proficiency in both Linux and Windows Server platforms is essential.
  • Strong leadership abilities and effective vendor negotiation skills are essential, along with proficiency in budgeting, procurement strategies, and good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.

 

What We Offer 

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
