Application are invited for appointment as Senior Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I) in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref: 536121), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support the establishment of the Department of Materials and Energy, under the Faculty of Engineering, as a University initiative to foster dynamic and cross‑disciplinary activities. The overarching aim of the Department is to foster closed-loop interdisciplinary collaboration in materials science and engineering, with a strategic emphasis on energy materials and energy engineering. The appointee will be initially placed in the Faculty of Engineering and subsequently transferred to the Department of Materials and Energy upon its formal establishment.
Applicants should possess a good Bachelor's degree, with at least 10 years’ work experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a tertiary institution, public/quasi-public organization or a related sector. A higher degree is an added advantage. They must have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese). They should also be mature and meticulous while maintaining overview of the broader context; be good team players with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and be capable of working on their own initiative. Strong time management, problem-solving skills, a professional work attitude, and a high level of computer literacy are essential qualities for the position.
The appointee is expected to demonstrate excellent leadership abilities to perform the duties effectively. He/She will lead the Department office in providing a wide range of administrative support, including budget and finance management, human resources administration, curriculum development, quality assurance, research administration and assessment exercises. He/She will also provide secretarial support to various departmental committees. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
