Senior Finance Manager/Finance Manager in the Faculty of Dentistry (Ref.: 536510)

We are seeking a Senior Finance Manager/Finance Manager to join the Faculty of Dentistry.

The Role

The appointee will be on the front line in overseeing the Faculty’s financial planning, development and administration.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Administering the Faculty’s financial planning and management, including budgetary control, financial forecasting, resource allocation and vetting of research funding applications;
  • Providing financial advice to the Faculty and ensuring compliance with the University’s policies, procedures and financial regulations;
  • Preparing management reports and analyses to support important strategic decision-making and regular budget reviews;
  • Monitoring staff costs and preparing manpower plans in supporting the Faculty’s development;
  • Liaising with the Finance and Enterprises Office and other Central units on the Faculty’s resource allocation matters;
  • Overseeing space planning and allocation to support the Faculty’s expansion and long-term development;
  • Coordinating with the Estates Office and monitoring the progress of renovation and development projects for the Faculty’s accommodation and facilities;
  • Overseeing budgeting and expenditure control for renovation, fitting‑out and facilities improvement projects;
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective use of financial and space resources;
  • Overseeing outside practice management, including policy updates, application processing and annual reporting;
  • Assisting in contract reviews to facilitate research and institutional development; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline;
  • At least 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in universities or sizable organisations, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role;
  • A professional qualification of HKICPA or other recognised professional accounting bodies;
  • Proven experience in full spectrum of financial management and budget control;
  • Strong sense of responsibility with excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders at all levels;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and project management skills, with the ability to proactively identify areas for improvement and lead changes;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight schedules;
  • Self-motivated, proactive and capable of leading and developing a team;
  • An excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with experience in data analytics or AI tools being an advantage.

Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Finance Manager.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 3 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary (for Senior Finance Manager) or 10% of basic salary (for Finance Manager).  Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
