Manager (AI Engineer), Masters Programmes (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref.: 537085) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Key Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• analyze data, processes, and operational needs to identify opportunities for applying artificial intelligence and advanced analytics;
• design, develop, deploy, and continuously improve secure and reliable AI solutions, including agentic and RAG workflows using LangGraph and LangChain;
• provide research and technical support to the Faculty’s Masters Programmes Office in areas related to admissions, students’ performance, career-related services, and programme administration.
• collaborate with academic, administrative, IT, and data-governance stakeholders to translate business requirements into practical solutions and integrate them with existing systems and workflows;
• manage the production lifecycle of AI applications, APIs, system integrations, and data pipelines, including cloud deployment, CI/CD, monitoring, incident response, documentation, and performance and cost optimization; and
• keep abreast of developments in artificial intelligence, evaluate their potential application within the Faculty, and carry out other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, with strong software-engineering foundations;
• approximately 5 years of relevant software, machine-learning, or AI engineering experience, including a proven record of deploying and operating production generative-AI applications. Technical leadership experience is highly desirable;
• advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience building production APIs using FastAPI or an equivalent framework. Knowledge of TypeScript or JavaScript is an advantage.
• production experience with LangGraph and LangChain is required. Familiarity with LlamaIndex, DSPy, Microsoft Agent Framework,
OpenAI Agents SDK or comparable tools is advantageous;
• strong knowledge of LLM and agent integration, tool calling, structured outputs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, context engineering, evaluation, observability, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design;
• hands-on experience developing multimodal pipelines for speech, documents, images, and video.
• experience with cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and MLOps or LLMOps practices;
• sound knowledge of privacy-by-design, application security, responsible AI, and data governance; and
• experience in higher education and proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese, including Putonghua, are advantageous.
