Sales and Marketing Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Hong Kong University Press (Ref.: 530456) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)
Hong Kong University Press is a department of the University of Hong Kong and one of the leading English-language academic publishers in Asia. Founded in 1956, the Press publishes up to 30–50 new titles a year across all areas of Asian studies from leading scholars around the world.
We are seeking a sales & marketing manager to lead the marketing team. Reporting to the Publisher, the appointee plays a versatile role in leading the team with key responsibilities:
- A member in the Press’ management team to support Press development, long-term strategic plan and new projects evaluation
- Oversee sales and marketing operations and activities on Press publications
- Manage trade accounts, international distributors relations, sales distribution programs and metadata channels
- Manage and oversee local & international book events and exhibitions
- Prepare and monitor sales, publicity, and trade fairs budget
- Develop authors collaboration in book projects and Press profile
Applicants should possess a recognized degree with at least 8 years’ publication marketing experience. They should be analytical thinkers and able to work effectively under pressure and adapt quickly to new challenges. Excellent communication skills in English and Chinese are a must; knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe, social networking media and websites are also essential. They must be good team players, mature, tactical with sound judgement, proactive and passionate about publishing.
