Assistant Technical Manager/Technical Officer (holding the functional title of Engineer/Assistant Engineer) with Time-Series Data Analytic Focus in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 525958) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefit scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline, with proven professional experience in the development and deployment of AI solutions; hands-on experience with the state-of the-art model in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and time-series data analytics, demonstrating a deep understanding of their applications and limitations; as well as strong programming skills in languages (e.g., Python, Java or C++). They should also possess in-depth knowledge of AWS services and experience in deploying applications on the AWS cloud; be familiar with machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow or PyTorch); and experience with Agile methodologies. Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in a team, and effective communication skills (with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders) would be valuable. Applicants with less experience will be considered as Technical Officer (holding the functional title of Assistant Engineer).

The appointee will be primarily responsible for (i) designing, developing, and implementing artificial intelligence (AI) solutions utilising deep learning and statistical models; (ii) collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate AI capabilities into our existing and upcoming projects; (iii) utilising AWS proficiency to deploy and maintain scalable and efficient AI systems, ensuring seamless integration with the AI models; (iv) applying state-of-the-art models to enhance the sophistication and responsiveness of AI interactions; (v) working within an Agile framework to iteratively develop and enhance AI functionalities, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements; (vi) staying current with the latest advancements in ML, CV, NLP, Agile methodologies and related technologies, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement; and (vii) conducting thorough analysis and testing to ensure the accuracy and efficiency of AI models.
