Laboratory Assistant (holding the functional title of Project Assistant) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 525978), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess Form 5 qualification or above. Diploma or above in healthcare related disciplines would be desirable but not a must. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluent Cantonese and Mandarin is a plus). They should be organized, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team. Experience in community-based research studies is highly preferred. Venipuncture skill is a plus.

The appointee will assist in a range of ongoing community field studies on infectious disease epidemiology and/or vaccine trials. He/She will assist in participant recruitment and follow-up activities, handle blood and respiratory samples, answer study hotline enquires, provide administrative support and perform other duties as assigned. Irregular working hours may be required occasionally. Information about the School can be obtained at http://sph.hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
