Systems Manager / Systems Engineer (at the rank of IT Manager / IT Officer) in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref.: 526164) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Networking, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline with at least 5 years' relevant experience
  • Good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to work independently under pressure
  • A good command of spoken and written English and Chinese
  • A positive mindset along with good communication and problem-solving skills
  • A fast learner, self-motivated and well-organised, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must have hands-on experience in infrastructure design, planning, installation, configuration and administration
  • Knowledge of, and experience in the following areas: VMware, Veeam, SAN Storage, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux/Unix Platform, MS SQL Server, Firewall, and Cloud Platforms would be an advantage
  • Certificates in MCITP / MCSE / CCNA / CCNP / CCIE are a plus

Applicants with less experience may be considered for appointment as Systems Engineer.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure administration
  • Implement IT security policies and procedures
  • Manage and maintain IT infrastructure systems and equipment, including server room facilities, servers, backup systems, switches and network
  • Provide technical solution and plan on hardware, system and security
  • Provide technical support and assistance to staff members, addressing and resolving IT-related inquiries
  • Systems and network monitoring, configuration, troubleshoot and equipment upgrade including firewall
