Senior Student Advising Officer, TPg Student and Alumni Services (Ref.: 526520) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (“IHSS”) is launching a new 1-year, taught master's programme in Family Wealth Management (“FWM”). We are looking for a Senior Student Advising Officer to oversee Student and Alumni Services for the TPg programme.

Working with other members of the FWM Programme Office, the Senior Student Advising Officer will oversee all aspects of student affairs for the programme, from onboarding and orientation to co-curricular activities, and eventually job placement upon graduation. Initiatives may include, but not limited to, orientation offsites, field trips, inauguration celebrations, and wellness activities. The Senior Student Advising Officer will also be responsible for providing career placement advice, such as resume reviews and mock interview roleplays, and – along with the Programme Director – liaising with potential employers. The first graduating class for the FWM programme will be in 2025; thereafter, the Senior Student Advising Officer will also be responsible for maintaining connectivity with programme alumni via online platforms and offline activities (alumni talks, etc).

A successful candidate for this role should have an outgoing personality and a genuine interest in student well-being. He/she would be a self-starter with an ability to organize structured activities for 70+ participants, and at the same time engage on one-on-one conversations with students seeking academic and/or career advice. Some of the student/alumni activities may take place outside normal office hours and on weekends, so a flexible mindset is important. Applicants should possess at least a Bachelor’s degree with 5-10 years’ relevant work experience, such as human resources, recruitment agency firms, or student counselling. Qualities we look for are ability to multi-task, attention to details and proven record of working both independently as well as in a team.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.

The University only accepts online application for the above posts. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. Review of applications will commence as soon as possible and continue until 31 May 2024, or until the posts are filled, whichever is earlier. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview, and may require a written test.
