Technical Manager I/II in the Maintenance and Operations Unit of the Estates Office (Ref.: 530586) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary).
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering/Environmental Science or a related discipline, and professional qualifications of HKIE, or equivalent; with at least 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably within an educational or large-scale institution. He/She should have excellent knowledge of slope stabilization and tree management techniques; strong understanding of safety and environmental regulations with strong leadership and team management skills. He/She also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Possession of a valid Construction Industry Safety Training Certificate (Green Card) issued in accordance with Chapter 59 of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance (i.e. by attending the relevant safety training courses which are recognized by the Commissioner for Labour) or equivalent, is required.
The appointee will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of university slopes and trees in ensuring safety and compliance with environmental standards. He/She will also assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring preventive maintenance programs for slope stabilization and tree health, conducting regular inspections/assessments to identify and rectify potential hazards promptly, implementing sustainable practices in all areas of work, preparing budgets and estimating for projects related to slope and tree maintenance and liaising with university departments, contractors and external agencies as necessary. Supervision of in-house staff and contractors in the performance of their duties is necessary.
Those with less experience or lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as Technical Manager II.
