Full-time/Part-time Research Assistant I/ II in the Department of Psychiatry, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref. 534091) (to commence as soon as possible for six months to one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in psychology or any related discipline.  Previous research experience in clinical or health-related research projects and proficiency in statistical programming (e.g. R, preferably) are preferred.  Candidate should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese), proficiency in statistics, a strong commitment to high-quality research, strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to prioritize work and maintain a high level of effectiveness. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.  

The appointee will coordinate psychiatric outreach service in response to a recent societal event and will work with psychiatrist Dr Eric TH Lai, social workers, and psychologists. He/She will also participate in research on sleep problems in adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, caregiver burden in adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders, youth mental health literacy, and outcome studies for eating disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders. He/She will have access to clinical notes, conduct interviews, and recruit persons living with mental disorders. He/She will also assist with data analysis, proposal development, and research meetings, enhancing professional and communication skills. This position would be ideal for those who wish to gain research experience and clinical skills, exposure to both clinical and community settings, and contribute to serving survivors of a recent societal event and academic research.
