Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer (2 posts) in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 534333) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should have 5 passes in HKCEE, including English (min. grade C if Syllabus A/Level 2 from 2007), Chinese (Level 2 from 2007) and Mathematics, OR min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE including English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics, with at least 10 years’ relevant work experience and specialized training in ophthalmology. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluent Cantonese), a strong sense of responsibility, good interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team. Those with less experience will be considered for appointment as Technical Officer.
For appointment as Senior Technical Officer, the appointee will provide clinical support during ophthalmic consultations, ocular procedures and surgeries; perform general and ophthalmic investigations; conduct daily disinfection; ensure proper care and maintenance of surgical equipment; and perform other duties as assigned.
For appointment as Technical Officer, the appointee will provide clinical support during ophthalmic consultations and surgeries; perform general and ophthalmic investigations; assist with inventory keeping of medical consumables and equipment; and perform other duties as assigned
Appointees will mainly work in the HKU Eye Centre located in Wong Chuk Hang. Working outside normal office hours may be required occasionally.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
