We now invite applications for appointment as Curriculum Development Officer (at the grade of Tutor) in the Centre for Advancement of Chinese Language Education and Research (CACLER) within the Faculty of Education.
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible for:-
- providing intensive school-based support to local secondary and, as if required, primary schools;
- facilitating collaborative planning sessions with teachers to enhance their instructional practices in Chinese language and online reading;
- reviewing reading proficiency framework for secondary schools;
- giving advice on how to integrate the framework, strategies, and findings into their school curriculum;
- developing professional teacher training programmes with the Project Leader;
- writing school reports and progress reports;
- developing teaching and learning resources; and
- performing other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree in Education, Chinese Language or a related discipline, or a Master’s degree with a recognized teaching qualification (e.g. PGDE); and at least 5 years’ teaching experience in local primary and/or secondary schools or equivalent. They should also have a good command of written and spoken Chinese (Cantonese), and experience in IT applications and Chinese computer operations. Preference will be given to those who have school-based support experience for local secondary schools.
Desirable Attributes
Demonstrated innovation in teaching Chinese language, and knowledge of and experience in developing school-based Chinese language curriculum and assessment in local primary and secondary schools.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on temporary full-time contract to commence in April 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter for 18 months, with the possibility of renewal, with the possibility of renewal.
