Senior Laboratory Assistant / Laboratory Assistant in the Clinical Trials Centre (Ref.: 534503)
The Clinical Trials Centre (HKU-CTC) is a leading clinical trials management platform established under The University of Hong Kong LKS Faculty of Medicine (HKUMed) and is dedicated to managing and facilitating international-standard clinical trials on new drugs, medical devices and medical technologies. HKU-CTC offers long-term development opportunities to passionate talents who are devoted to a career in the clinical trial profession.
HKU-CTC’s Biospecimens Core (BioCore) is a core facility for managing and processing biospecimens from clinical trials. Locating at the Queen Mary Hospital, it is now supporting over 100 clinical trials. BioCore is seeking talents who have the passion in promoting healthcare advancement through practising the laboratory profession in the clinical research domain.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide laboratory, clerical and logistical support for BioCore,
- Receive and perform tracking of biospecimens for clinical trials;
- Undertake pre-trial preparation, including assemble of laboratory kits and reagents/consumables management;
- Manage biospecimens records and conduct quality control; and
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Working outside normal business days or hours may be required occasionally.
Requirements:
- Higher Diploma or Associate degree in Biological, Medical or Laboratory Sciences or related disciplines;
- Experience in laboratory/clinical trial operations and basic knowledge in Good Clinical Practice would be an advantage but not compulsory, as comprehensive on-the-job training will be provided;
- Commitment to quality and compliance;
- Detail-minded and able to handle multiple concurrent tasks;
- Strong sense of responsibility; and
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese is needed for effective communication.
Applicants with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for the position of Laboratory Assistant.

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. Appointment on 2-year fixed term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
