Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer in the Department of Geography
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our Department of Geography as a Senior Technical Officer/Technical Officer. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the smooth operation of our laboratories, contribute to the successful completion of various research projects, and support teaching and learning activities.
The Role:

Overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of wet labs in the department.

Adjusting, calibrating and ensuring the proper function of laboratory equipment and instruments.

Providing technical support to faculty members, researchers, and students in the use of laboratory equipment and instruments for teaching, learning, and research.

Assisting in field trips and lab work as per request of faculty members.

Maintaining accurate and detailed records of lab equipment and research findings.

Assisting in the procurement of new equipment.

Ensuring adherence to safety protocols and procedures.

Continuously updating knowledge of relevant technologies and industry best practices to maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of our laboratories.
Qualifications and Qualities:

A good Bachelor's degree, preferably in Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field; a Master's degree is highly desirable.

Not less than 2 years of experience in a similar role; candidates with less experience may be considered for the Technical Officer position.

Demonstrated expertise in the operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in both Chinese and English.

Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure.

A commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.

Competency in computer data handling and management.

Possession of valid driving licenses for private cars (Class 1) and light goods vehicles (Class 2) is an advantage.
What We Offer: The appointment will be made on a fixed-term, full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
