Assistant Registrar in the President’s Office (Ref.: 534685)
 
We are seeking a high-calibre professional with exceptional skills and potential to join the President’s Office as Assistant Registrar, supporting the portfolio of Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching and Learning) (“VP/PVC (T&L)”). 
 
The Role
 
The appointee will serve as an administrative lead overseeing all aspects of administration for the central units under the VP/PVC (T&L)’s portfolio, such as Co-operative Education Office, Common Core Office, Cultural Management Office, HKU Horizons Office, and Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre. Working closely with the VP/PVC (T&L) and other administrative units of the University, he/she will play a key role in ensuring administrative effectiveness, coordination and operational support across the relevant units. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
 
  • Supporting the development, implementation and review of University‑wide strategies, policies and initiatives related to teaching and learning;
  • Facilitating coordination across academic and administrative units within the University and with external bodies to promote innovative, future‑ready and student‑centred teaching and learning practices;
  • Providing leadership and oversight for a full spectrum of administrative operations of the central units under the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning)’s portfolio;
  • Providing high-level secretariat support for committees and working groups related to teaching and learning, including preparation of discussion papers, reports and submissions;
  • Performing other duties as assigned in support of the VP/PVC (T&L)’s portfolio and in the President’s Office.
 
Qualifications and Qualities
 
Applicants should possess:
 
  • A good bachelor’s degree, preferably with a higher degree;
  • At least 10 years of relevant administrative and management experience in sizable organizations, with sound understanding of teaching and learning in a tertiary education environment;
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgement;
  • Excellent communication skills in written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to present ideas convincingly. 
  • A strong sense of responsibility, professionalism and commitment to excellence; and
  • A high level of computer and AI literacy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
 
What We Offer
 
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for two years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.  A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
