Student Advising Officer (Careers) (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Careers and Placement Section of the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS) (Ref.: 536209) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefit scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary).
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as a Student Advising Officer (Careers). This role focuses on supporting strategic projects, driving key career initiatives, conducting market research, and strengthening employer relations to enhance student employability and career readiness.
The appointee will be responsible for the below duties:
- Contribute to strategic projects that enhance career readiness of students, including the design, implementation, organisation and execution of various student-centric career programmes, and helping HKU students stay ahead of industry trends.
- Collaborate with internal teams, employers, students, graduates and key stakeholders, such as faculties, career coaches, trainers and programme partners to drive and deliver impactful career development initiatives.
- Conduct market research and analyse industry intelligence, providing insights into the employment landscape in Hong Kong, the Greater Bay Area (GBA), and beyond.
- Support the execution of other projects, including but not limited to preparing industry reports, developing student career communities, and offering career coaching to students and graduates.
- Assist in expanding employer engagement in Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland by coordinating market insights sessions, networking events and recruitment partnerships.
Applicants should possess:
- University degree with at least five years of work experience, preferably in project management, career services, student development, employer relations, talent acquisition, or talent development within tertiary institutions and/or large corporations.
- Proven experience in delivering training programmes, including needs analysis, participant and stakeholder management, and pre- and post- evaluation.
- Strong organisational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proactive, independent, meticulous, and results-oriented mindset, with the ability to multitask and perform efficiently under pressure.
- Motivated in supporting student career development and employability, as well as employer outreach and industry engagement.
- Good knowledge of the local employment market and global industry trends.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience in webpage design and social media marketing is an advantage.
