Student Research Assistant in the Centre on Contemporary China and the World (Ref.:536244)
Applications are invited for appointment as Student Research Assistant(s) in the Centre on Contemporary China and the World .
Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee(s) will work under the supervision and guidance of scholars in the Centre. Duties include:
- collecting and analysing data;
- compiling bibliographies, timelines and chronologies;
- creating, updating and maintaining spreadsheets and databases; and
- performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Applicants should be undergraduate or postgraduate students of the University of Hong Kong, preferably in computer science, economics, international relations, political science, or a related discipline. They should have:
- an excellent command of written and spoken English and Mandarin, with the ability to handle Chinese-language research materials accurately.
- familiarity with data analytics tools (experience with Claris FileMaker would be an advantage)
- good organizational and communication skills
- a high level of attention to detail;
- the ability to work independently, multitask, prioritize work and meet deadlines;
- good understanding of Chinese politics is a plus.
What We Offer
The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a temporary part-time basis, with the possibility of full-time engagement during the summer months from June 1 to August 31, 2026. Renewal is subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
