Applications are invited for appointment as Technical Officer in the School of Future Media (Ref.: 537057) to commence as soon as possible, on two-year fixed term basis with possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance and funding availability.

The appointee will support the operation and maintenance of the School’s media production facilities and equipment office. The major responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the daily operation of equipment office including equipment check-in and check-out, maintaining inventory records, supporting annual stocktaking, handling student enquiries, and coordinating routine system and equipment maintenance;
  • Providing technical support for computing facilities and video production class at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
  • Supporting the media production of the School’s events including film screening, talks, conferences, seminars, workshops and the University’s Information Day; and
  • Performing any other duties assigned by the School Director.

The appointee may be required to work overtime as and when necessary.

Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree in journalism, media studies, creative media, film production, or a related discipline, with at least 1 year of postgraduate work experience in media production, preferably in broadcasting stations, newsroom, media production organisations, and/or higher education. They should have good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with people from diverse cultures; be self-motivated, and highly organised. Proficiency in multimedia production hardware (including camera, audio, and lighting gear) and Adobe Creative Suite is required. Experience in Apple Final Cut Pro and Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve would be a definite advantage. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
