Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I/II (serval posts) at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.:537118), to commence as soon as possible. The appointment will be made on one-year temporary basis with University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will work on research projects focusing on mental wellness, community health, and additive behaviors, assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) to:

• Conduct literature reviews and contribute to the development of theoretical frameworks for mental health and relevant topics.
• Conduct mixed-methods research, including experimental trials, longitudinal studies, ecological momentary assessment (EMA) studies, and qualitative research (e.g., individual interviews, focus groups), under the supervision of the PI.
• Perform quantitative and qualitative data analysis using appropriate research methodologies and software.
• Collaborate with community partners to enhance knowledge translation.
• Assist the PI in overall project management, ethics applications, data collection, and the preparation of research reports, publications, and presentations.

Requirements

• For Senior Research Assistant: A Master’s degree in Social Sciences (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, or related disciplines) with at least 1 year of post-qualification research experience.

For Research Assistant I/II: A Master’s degree in Social Sciences, or a Bachelor’s degree accompanied by substantial research experience.

• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software (e.g., STATA, SPSS, R, or Python) and qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams and collaborators.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; proficiency in Cantonese is an advantage for local fieldwork and stakeholder engagement.
