Technical Manager in the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 537335) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, and with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in Life Sciences or a related discipline, with at least five years of relevant laboratory management experience. They should have sound knowledge of microbiology and biotechnology. Familiarity with BSL-3 protocols and laboratory safety policies is an advantage. They should also have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua). Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) is essential. Good communication, organizational, leadership and problem-solving skills are also required.
The appointee is expected to oversee the overall management of the department’s laboratories, including the implementation of laboratory policies, provision of user training, and ensuring compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations. He/She will oversee laboratory safety matters, develop and enforce standard operating procedures, and handle any ad hoc incidents. The role also involves managing laboratory equipment and facilities, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating with other departments on facility-related matters. He/She will also supervise and lead the technical support team to maintain smooth laboratory operations.
