Part-time Student Research Assistant in the Faculty of Education (Ref: 499646) (to commence as soon as possible for 6 months)
Applicants should be students in the Faculty of Social Sciences or have similar experience. They should have a good command of written and spoken Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) and English; significant experience in creating content for and managing social media platforms, especially Facebook and WeChat; a high level of attention to details; and the ability to complete projects independently.
The appointee will help implement a social media strategy for outreach and knowledge exchange with the public about an archaeological field research project in Armenia. The goal of this outreach is to engage the public in our archaeological fieldwork by showing everyone how and why we are excavating and by explaining our results. We would like to have a fun and engaging social media presence that can reach audiences all over the world (in English), especially with focus on introducing archaeology and our project to the Hong Kong and Mainland Chinese audiences. The appointee will help create content for social media, and build partnerships with other existing social media channels to further promote the distribution of relevant content. He/She will work closely with the rest of the project team to encourage the production of blog posts by students, photographs, scientific data, and professional short videos. All content will need to be shared in the three languages (English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese). The appointee will provide assistance with dubbing or subtitling the videos in multiple languages.
The appointee can do most of the work remotely over the internet from anywhere. He/She should also be able to spend some time during the summer of 2020 in Armenia to experience and work at the site with the team. Travel expenses will be covered.
