Technical Officer (Digital Preservation and Learning Environments) in the University Libraries (Ref: 500264) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline with at least 3 years’ relevant work experience.  They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; good communication and interpersonal skills; analytical and problem-solving skills.  A strong learning and detail-oriented mindset, hardworking and self-motivated attitude are essential.

The appointee will report to the Digital Scholarship Librarian and Assistant Librarian, Lending Services and Learning Environments.  He/She will provide technical support to various activities and services of teaching & learning and research activities (including developing and showcasing digital scholarship initiatives and digital collections) in new learning environments of the Libraries.  The appointee will also provide technical support for faculty, staff and students engaged in digital preservation of library collections as well as digitization of 3D models and scanning work using cutting-edge tools.
