Research Assistant I/II in the Division of Public Health Laboratory Sciences (PHLS) of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 503181) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in cell and molecular biology. Knowledge of molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction, RT-qPCR, conventional PCR tests and DNA sequencing is highly preferred. Experience working in molecular laboratory is an advantage but not a must.
The appointees will work in a research team led by Professor Leo Poon to study coronaviruses and influenza viruses in humans and animal hosts. He/She will collect samples in the field, conduct laboratory tests, and perform other research-related duties as assigned.
