Full-time or Part-time Research Assistant I/II (several posts) in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref: 524360)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • work with a team of researchers on health economics/pharmacoeconomics, big data, and epidemiology projects related to health preference elicitation using health survey methods (e.g. Discrete Choice Experiment, time trade-off), quality of life measures, questionnaire validation, cost-effectiveness analysis, and medication safety and effectiveness in areas including but not limited to mental well-being, infectious diseases, cardiology, and oncology
  • conduct standard statistical analysis of economic and/or epidemiological data and interpret the results
  • manage and analyze large quantitative datasets
  • assist with qualitative research, prepare and manage submission to the IRB
  • assist in the implementation of research projects in Hong Kong SAR and across mainland China
  • prepare reports and manuscripts
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Health Economics, Health Sciences, Public Health, Social Science, Psychology, Biostatistics, Pharmacy, Computer Science, or a related healthcare discipline with at least 1 year of relevant experience
  • a relevant background in analysing large and complex datasets using R, STATA, NVivo or other analytical tools; conducting qualitative interviews and analysis will be an advantage
  • the ability to implement statistical analyses of economic and epidemiological data with correct interpretation of the results
  • excellent coordination, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • a good command of spoken and written English and Chinese (Cantonese)
  • a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team

 

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis or a 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
