Senior Research Assistant in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration

Applications are invited for appointment to the post of Senior Research Assistant at the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref:526079) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability).

Applicants should have a solid undergraduate background in data science fundamentals and postgraduate-level research training in Social Work, Statistics, Computing Science, Engineering, Psychology, or a related discipline.  They should have at least three years of previous work or research experience in working with different scales of census, mental health, or drug rehabilitation datasets.

Proof of sufficient coding skills is required.  Candidates should include their Github handles on their CV.  Those with experience developing and maintaining ERP and CRM systems, frontend or backend programming, data scraping, statistical computing, dashboarding, user-experience design, or cloud computing background will be asked to produce web application prototypes, deploy machine-learning models, or automate data visualization pipelines to support ongoing projects.  The appointee will be asked to maintain and expand the current data collection system, automate data collection pipelines, carry out data analysis and drafting reports, and perform other ad-hoc duties.
