Technical Officer in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 526198) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a higher degree (MPhil. or Ph.D) in Chemistry with at least 3 years of relevant experience in synthetic laboratories. They should have a good command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua) with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. They should also have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in handling air-sensitive reactions and quenching chemicals in a synthetic laboratory. Experience in designing and preparing undergraduate experiments is highly preferred. Knowledge of Dangerous Goods and Controlled Chemicals, as well as experience in chemical tracking and logistics would be advantageous.
The appointee will design and modify synthetic experiments, prepare chemicals, materials, standards for undergraduate and taught postgraduate laboratories, and outreach events. He/She will also contribute to the development of the chemical tracking system in the teaching laboratories, and perform any other duties as assigned.
