Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Real Estate and Construction (Ref.: 526501) (to commence as soon as possible for six months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and other related subjects. They should have a strong interest in research related to modular buildings, generative design, and structural design, as well as interests and (preferably) experience in applying machine learning and optimisation models to architectural design. Skills in Rhino, Grasshopper, and other common parametric design software, in addition to skills in platform development software such as Unity and Figma are essential.

The appointee will assist in the “Generative DfX in high-rise modular building: An expert-augmented cascade graph learning and optimisation approach” research project under the Collaborative Research Fund (CRF) supported by the Research Grants Council (RGC). The appointee will be responsible for 1. assisting in developing generative design algorithm for structures of modular buildings; 2. assisting in developing interactive design platform; and 3. forming the results into a series of research papers.

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a temporary basis for six months, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
