Applications are invited for appointment as Nursing Manager (at the rank of Senior Technical Manager) in the HKU Health System of the LKS Faculty of Medicine (Ref.: 526528), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

HKU Health System (HKUHS) is the umbrella executive arm overseeing and supporting the Faculty’s clinical enterprises. Our objectives include assuring robust clinical governance in the settings we serve and acting as a central liaison platform with our clinical partners.

Applicants should possess a nursing qualification registrable with the local Nursing Council or an equivalent international regulator and a valid practising certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong. They should have at least 15 years of post-registration clinical experience and demonstrated leadership in the continuous improvement of healthcare services. American Heart Association Training Faculty accreditation preferred.

Key Responsibilities: To lead the HKUMed American Heart Association International Training Centre (AHA ITC) team in providing high-quality AHA courses and conducting oversight programmes to assure robust clinical governance in all clinical settings we serve.

  1. Drive the development of the HKUMed AHA ITC and its courses to support the Faculty’s teaching and learning activities and wellness programmes, including planning and delivering AHA-accredited resuscitation courses for instructors and students, quality assurance, and community outreach.
  2. Assist in setting uniform standards and conducting clinical governance oversight programmes to ensure safe, quality clinical care and good clinical outcomes for all HKU Health System Clinical Service Units.
  3. Serve on our partnering hospitals' clinical and management committees to support our clinical governance oversight programmes.
  4. Provide consultancy services to various clinical enterprises under the Faculty regarding the development, delivery and quality assurance of clinical services.
  5. Monitor and follow up on relevant incident reports of our partnering hospitals and Clinical Service Units to assure robust clinical risk management.
  6. Oversee complaints related to clinical matters in affiliate hospitals and units.
  7. Drive departmental team-building efforts.

Key result areas

  1. Development and operation of the American Heart Association International Training Centre of HKUMed
  2. Support to the Faculty's research, teaching and learning, and student wellness
  3. Professional development of clinical and administration teams
  4. Oversight of good clinical governance in our partnering hospitals and Clinical Service Units under the HKUHS
  5. Consultancy services to clinical units in areas such as occupational safety and health and clinical risk management

Occasional performance of duties outside normal office hours may be required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointments will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
