IT Manager in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.527230), to commence as soon as possible thereafter, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract end-gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the development and maintenance of IT system and platform for data collection and project implementation in a capacity building project for NGOs in Hong Kong;
  • Be responsible for procurement and maintenance of IT equipment;
  • Provide technical support and assistance to staff members, addressing and resolving IT-related inquiries;
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of IT projects, such as system upgrades, data mining, data migrations, and web application development;
  • Improve procedures, guideline and standards for data management and security;
  • Provide support for data collection, data storage, data security, server maintenance etc.; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Qualities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field;
  • At least 6 years of development and managerial work experience in various IT areas e.g. Full Stack Web Development, including front-end, back-end, and database management;
  • Experience with Electron for desktop application development;
  • Strong foundation in software design, development and testing, and a good command of written and spoken English;
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff members; and
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or as part of a team.
