Applications are now invited for appointment as Director of the Teaching and Learning Innovation Centre (TALIC) from August 19, 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment will initially be made on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

TALIC is the prime unit in the University promoting best practice in pedagogy, assessment, e-learning and feedback and also plays a key role in supporting the implementation of University policies in relation to teaching and learning. It operates through active engagement with Faculties. It engages in and promotes the scholarship of teaching and learning.

The appointee is expected to provide leadership in the following areas: (a) advise and support Faculties on curriculum design, pedagogy, assessment, e-learning and feedback; (b) facilitate collaboration amongst Faculties in connection with implementation of the University’s strategic agenda for teaching and learning; (c) provide academic staff development courses, seminars and workshops; (d) provide technological support for teachers across the campus; (e) undertake regular and ad hoc evaluation of teaching and learning at the University; and (f) keep the mission and the structure of the Centre under regular review to ensure that it takes a proactive role in advancing teaching and learning at the University.

Applicants should have a track record of providing leadership in the enhancement of teaching and learning in tertiary education, engagement with the scholarship of teaching and learning, a demonstrated ability to collaborate with academic staff in Faculties on curriculum and pedagogical innovation, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

The appointment will be made on the professional service track. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave and medical benefits. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
