Systems Specialist (at the rank of IT Technician) in the Department of Computer Science (Ref.: 527278)

The Technical Staff Office of the Department of Computer Science provides technical support services for administrative, teaching and learning activities in the department.  The office is recruiting a systems specialist to join the team.  Fresh graduates are also welcome to apply.

The Role

The appointee will perform duties of the Technical Staff Office and assist in one or more of the following tasks:

• administering high-performance computing GPU clusters and other computer servers;
• managing network equipment, firewall and network services; and
• setting up and maintaining websites and content management systems, such as WordPress.

Qualifications and Qualities

• a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred; candidates with other qualifications can also apply
• good command of written and spoken English and Chinese
• strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
• self-initiative and willing to learn
• knowledge of Linux operating systems will be an advantage

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
