Data Analyst (at the rank of Senior Research Assistant) in the Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention within the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 528791)

We now invite applications for the captioned post to assist in Jockey Club Online Youth Emotional Support “Open Up” project which is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with researches related to statistical and data analytics, modelling, natural language processing and learning research intelligence
  • Report writing, designing and building ETL pipelines from various data sources
  • Applying advanced analytical methods to solve non-routine problems
  • Visualizing the analysis in an interactive manner
  • Working closely with colleagues from different academic disciplines for project evaluation
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the Centre

Requirements

  • A good Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Statistics, Mathematics or related disciplines, with at least 3 years’ working experience; or a Master’s degree with 1 year’s aforementioned work experience.
  • Experience is preferred in deploying and configurating virtual machines under Linux environment; handling both structured and unstructured data
  • Good knowledge of Google APIs (knowledge of Google App Script will be an advantage)
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese
  • Proficient in R, Python, SQL, and Linux bash script
  • Good analytical, organizational, communication and project management skills
  • Research experience in mental health projects in Hong Kong would be an advantage

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 1-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
