Senior IT Assistant/ IT Assistant in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 530002) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Higher Diploma or above in Information and Communications Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline.  They should have a good command of spoken and written English, the ability to work independently and a strong sense of responsibility.  They should also have knowledge of web content support, network security as well as skills in the use of video editing techniques and graphic design tools such as Adobe AI and Photoshop.  

Familiarity with web development languages (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, PHP, HTML, SQL) and the use of server management tools (e.g. Windows Server, SQL Server) are required.  Experience in tender support and infrastructure setting for clinical equipment is highly preferred.  Those with less experience will be appointed as IT Assistant.

The appointee will be responsible for the procurement, setup, administration and maintenance of computing facilities; maintenance of the departmental website; and providing technical support to staff members.  He/She will provide solutions for the development and enhancement of various web-based applications and materials (such as web-based systems that could incorporate images with electronic patient record, and searchable databases).

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
