Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Sociology (Ref.: 530064), to commence as soon as possible for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in sociology, early childhood education, social/public policy or in other social sciences fields. They should have an aptitude for and keen interest in understanding the development of young children and the well-being of families, proficiency in advanced quantitative data analysis, and experience with statistical analysis packages such as Stata and R. They must be detail-oriented, responsible and have excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills. They should be able to work well independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team. Proficiency in English and Cantonese is preferable. Experience with large-scale survey implementation would be an advantage. The position offers early career professionals an opportunity to obtain hands-on experience on how to develop, conduct, and disseminate large-scale, interdisciplinary, policy-relevant research.

The appointee will assist Prof. Ming Wen and Prof. Duoduo Xu and the project team in an interdisciplinary multi-year large-scale project on early childhood development in Hong Kong. The appointee will be responsible for coordinating data collection and liaising with external parties, engage in participant recruitment and retention, questionnaire design and survey implementation, supervising junior research staff, data processing and analysis, writing and contributing to research reports and manuscripts, and other research-related duties as assigned.
