High Performance Development Manager (at the rank of Assistant Technical Manager) in the Active Health Clinic of the Centre for Sports and Exercise (Ref.: 530076) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal)

Applicants should possess a recognized Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Sports Science, Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning or related disciplines, with at least 5 years’ experience in high performance training/sports coaching of athletes and client health and fitness care, of which at least 2 years must be at a managerial level.  Professional certifications in strength and conditioning training or fitness training would be essential.  They should have an excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese; the ability to interact with clients in a positive and professional manner with strong commitment to high-quality service provision; knowledge of and skills in fitness programming and conducting strength and conditioning training; and experience in teaching or leading a team.  They should also be able to carry out sports performance assessments in both field and laboratory settings; and provide in-depth analysis of assessment data for progress monitoring.

The appointee will mainly oversee and manage the high-performance training programming and oversight for the University Team elite and developmental athletes, and manage their progress assessments; develop and maintain the HKU high-performance unit to top-notch standard, as well as the quality assurance standards for those working with athletes or fitness clients.  He/She will organize high-performance related workshops, seminars and other promotional activities to raise the awareness of HKU’s high-performance training and lab facilities, including its programmes and services.  The right appointed should also conduct health-related fitness assessments and assist in special clinic-related projects, as required.
