Research Officer (X-ray Crystallographer) in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 530103) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. in Chemistry, with a focus on Crystallography or a related field with at least 5 years’ hands-on experience as an experimental crystallographer in a tertiary institute/industrial sector.  They should have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the practical aspects of small-molecule and powder crystallography, including crystallization, data acquisition, structure solution and refinement.  Applicants who are experts in operating X-ray diffractometers and solving X-ray crystal structures are preferred.

The appointee will provide structure determination services for research samples, support student-led data collections and structure determinations.  He/She will also play a key role in the development of crystallographic research methodology and training research students and authorized users in data collection and analysis; and perform any other duties as assigned.  Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.
