Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 530265) to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.  Information about the Department can be obtained at https://fmpc.hku.hk/.

 

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Public Health/Epidemiologist, or a related disciplines, with strong study experiences in Hepatology (chronic hepatitis B infection, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, hepatocellular carcinoma), Gastrointestinal Diseases (H. pylori infection, non-ulcer dyspepsia, peptic ulcer disease, gastric cancer), and Sextual Health (sexually transmitted infection such as trichomoniasis, genital warts, genital herpes, gonorrhoea, syphilis and chlamydia, etc, epidemiology analysis, and risk prevention), and transmission modelling in infection diseases.  They should possess excellent work attitudes, communication skills and command of both written and speaking English and/or Cantonese; basic knowledge in using statistical analysis software such as Python, R, Stata, SPSS, TreeAge Pro, and/or NVivo; and be able to work independently in an interdisciplinary research team.  The applicant should have good prior experiences in systematic literature review, qualitative research, project evaluation, data analysis (especially on cost-effectiveness modelling and simulation analysis), and manuscript/report drafting or assisting grant writing.

 

The appointee will have the opportunity to join a highly interdisciplinary research team led by Dr. Jayden Jiandong Zhou, which involves involve interdisciplinary research and close interactions with local and international collaborators including Medical Professionals, Hepatologist, Gastroenterologist, Sextual Health Epidemiologist, Data Scientist, Software Engineers, Health Economists, and other clinical staff and healthcare stakeholders, in the field of Family Medicine and Primary Care.  The appointee will work on various projects related to sexual health, infectious diseases, and/or health promotion, with the major contributions to screening/diagnosis and health management of patients with chronic hepatitis B infection or with H. pylori infection, and cost-effectiveness modelling for study topics related to liver diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, and sexually transmitted diseases.
