Applications are invited for appointment as Chief of Service and Consultant in Surgery/ Family Medicine/ Obstetrics and Gynaecology to be seconded to The University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) Teaching Hospital Limited (THL) and assigned to work in the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital (Ref.: 530329), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal.

 

The University of Hong Kong (HKU) has been collaborating with Shenzhen Government to develop the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital as a teaching hospital of HKU. With the presence of HKU, a new operation model for the Hospital has been introduced, aiming at providing high-quality services from primary to tertiary levels to patients in the region, whilst sustaining a teaching and training mission well supported by a robust research component. As the Hospital is located in Shenzhen, the work location is mainly in Shenzhen.

 

The Chief of Service and Consultant is responsible for the overall management of the clinical department medical staff and relevant department committees.  He/She has to monitor and lead all operational activities within the clinical department, including the development of operational policies, budget and plans.

 

Applicants should possess a medical degree preferably registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong and a specialist qualification and experience in Surgery/Family Medicine/Obstetrics and Gynaecology; and at least 10 years’ working experience in providing and managing relevant specialist services in major hospitals.  Extensive healthcare knowledge, and strong leadership and management skills are pre-requisites.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and preferably fluency in English and Putonghua, are required.  Special consideration will be given to candidates with either knowledge or work experience in clinical work in Mainland China.

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
