Programme Officer (at the rank of Teaching Assistant) in the Department of Geography (Ref.: 530585)

 

We are looking for a Programme Officer to join the Department of Geography.

 

The Role

The appointee will provide teaching and administrative support to a taught postgraduate programme on Transport Policy and Planning. Major duties include:

  • Course preparation and administration
  • Grading assignments and tests
  • Supporting field trips and academic activities
  • Invigilating examinations
  • Providing consultative support to students
  • Managing the web-based course Moodle
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Programme Director and Department Head

 

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's degree, in Geography, Urban Planning, Transport Studies or a related discipline
  • Experience in taught postgraduate programme administrative support in tertiary institutions will be an advantage
  • Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS and R) and geographic information systems (ArcGIS) is strongly preferred
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • A good command of written and spoken English
  • A good team player with strong sense of responsibility

 

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
