Programme Officer (at the rank of Teaching Assistant) in the Department of Geography (Ref.: 530585)
We are looking for a Programme Officer to join the Department of Geography.
The Role
The appointee will provide teaching and administrative support to a taught postgraduate programme on Transport Policy and Planning. Major duties include:
- Course preparation and administration
- Grading assignments and tests
- Supporting field trips and academic activities
- Invigilating examinations
- Providing consultative support to students
- Managing the web-based course Moodle
- Performing other duties as assigned by the Programme Director and Department Head
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably a Master's degree, in Geography, Urban Planning, Transport Studies or a related discipline
- Experience in taught postgraduate programme administrative support in tertiary institutions will be an advantage
- Proficiency in statistical software (SPSS and R) and geographic information systems (ArcGIS) is strongly preferred
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- A good command of written and spoken English
- A good team player with strong sense of responsibility
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary.
