Research Assistant I/II in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 531217) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term or two-year fixed term contract, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

 

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in public health, nursing, health sciences, biology, kinesiology and/or medicine-related disciplines, with at least one year’s work experience. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (particularly Cantonese), a strong sense of responsibility and commitment, and good interpersonal, organizational, communication and time management skills. They should be highly motivated, attentive to details, and able to work independently and collaboratively. Experience in research, grant applications and manuscript writing would be an advantage.

 

The appointee will coordinate clinical trials led by Prof. Youngwon Kim with a focus on determining the combined effects of evidence-based health coaching and wearables on cardiometabolic risk factors and healthful behaviours including physical activity. He/She will recruit research participants; collect, manage and analyse data; assist in grant applications; and prepare research articles. Irregular working hours and outdoor work may be required occasionally. Information about the School can be obtained at http://sph.hku.hk/.

 

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
