Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the AIDS Institute of the Department of Microbiology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 531546) to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Immunology, Microbiology, Cell Biology or related disciplines. They should have an excellent publication track record and a strong quantitative background, with at least three years post-doctoral experience in conducting and managing immunology studies, expertise in single-cell technologies, immune cell profiling and bioinformatics, and ability of independently leading individual research project. Applicants who have demonstrated the potential to introduce innovative research ideas and explore funding opportunities to enhance the Department's research capabilities and strengths are highly desirable.

The appointee will participate in multidisciplinary research projects conducting innovative research in virology/immunology with potential for high-impact publications. The project will develop high-throughput microfluidic platforms for functional screening of antigen-specific T cells and transcriptomic profiling in cancer/ infectious diseases.

The appointee is expected to participate in and/or develop significant independent and/or joint research programmes; apply for external research funding; supervise postgraduate students and research staff; teach courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; and provide service at departmental, faculty, and/or university levels. This post offers an excellent opportunity for academic development in the fields of virology and immunology.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.
