Senior Technical Officer in X-ray Crystallography in the Department of Chemistry (Ref.: 531631) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Crystallography or related field, with at least 5 years’ hand-on experience as an experimental crystallographer in a tertiary institute/industrial sector. They should have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in the practical aspects of small-molecule and powder crystallography, including crystallization, data acquisition, structure solution and refinement. They should also have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese; proficiency in PC and software applications; good communication, organizational and problem-solving skills; sound supervisory skills; be self-motivated, and able to work independently.
The appointee will be responsible for providing structure determination service for research samples while supporting student-run data collections and structure determinations. He/She will provide assistance for the development of crystallographic research methodology, train research students and authorized users for data collection and analysis; and perform any other duties as assigned.
