Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration (Ref.: 531793), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The appointee will join a research team specialising in social capital projects. These projects aim to explore the concept of social capital in Chinese/Asian contexts and its functions among different populations, identify ways to engage and empower local stakeholders for social capital development in the Chinese/Asian contexts, and examine how social capital and built environment contribute to wellbeing
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Collaborate with the funder, local researchers, and community partners to ensure translational impact.
- Prepare manuscripts for high-impact journals and present findings at conferences under the supervision of PI.
- Assist the PI in project management, ethics applications, and supervision of junior researchers.
Requirements:
- A PhD degree in Social Sciences.
- Strong analytical skills and proficiency in statistical software and qualitative tools.
- Previous involvement in research studies in GPS and GIS technology is highly preferred.
- Track record of scholarly output.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese).
- Experience working with community-based projects is highly desirable.
