Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the Department of Surgery, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 533910), to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years’ research experience in oncology, cellular and molecular biology, animal experiments, and next generation sequencing. Previous experience in liver cancer and liver transplantation will be advantageous. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua), and a track record of high-quality research demonstrated by publications and research grants. They should also be well organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.
The appointee will participate in basic, clinical, and translational research in the area of liver cancer and liver transplantation. He/She will plan and execute research; prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports; liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders; and perform other duties as assigned.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
